Set wayyyy at the top of the mountain in a former monestary Le Monastere I think is one of the most ROMANTIC restaurants with SPECTACULAR views I’ve found in CR so far!!  GREAT for ambiance!!!  INTERNATIONAL cuisine.  Prices vary on how much you’re ordering as everything is ala carte but if you’re not having all the separate side like soup or salad & not drinking or having desserts – it’s VERY reasonably priced  (of course – not if you’re ordering a lot from the menu which is al la carte) – especially for the setting!! What I ordered my last time - Soda 525, CEASAR SALAD 2,495, Lomito a la Pimienta 6,896, Crema de Mariscos/Seafood Soup 2,895, Orden de Anchoas  2,250.  They have CAVIAR, FOIE GRAS, homemade DUCK PATE with Cognac & Hazelnuts (yummmm!!), LOBSTER BISQUE, LOBSTER THERMIDOR, LEG OF LAMB, VEAL STEW, WILD BOAR STEW WITH TRUFFLES, FRENCH ONION SOUP, FROGS LEGS.  Desserts – CRÈME BRULEE!!! They have three separate areas to enjoy – one - the restaurants where waiters assist you dressed as monks, one a romantic bar with magnificent panoramic views of the Central Valley & LIVE MUSIC from a grand piano & the Cava (cave) – an intimate celler for drinks or more dining with a more casual menú & LIVE MUSIC Thurs., Fri. & Sat. nights in the Cava.  HOLIDAYS:  Christmas Eve, New Years Eve.  Make sure to stroll the grounds & the chapel (which is still used for weddings & some religious ceremonies) while you’re waiting for your meal or after!
